Ralph Steuernagel
Pioneer of European integrative Ayurveda.
Ralph has dedicated himself to the interdisciplinary co-operation of Western and Eastern medicine since 1994 and has been one of the leading teachers and experts for integrative Ayurveda medicine in Europe for 27 years. He leads all training and further education programmes as well as practical training courses and accompanies you on your path to successful practice.
His additional training in Chinese medicine (TCM), Tibetan medicine (TTM), European humoral medicine (TEN), anti-ageing medicine and mindfulness-based psychotherapy (ACT) give him an exceptionally holistic understanding of Euro-Asian medicine and psychology.
Ralph works passionately with and for Ayurveda as a therapist, teacher, entrepreneur, journalist and coach. In 1998, he founded the EURASIAMED private practice and academy in Frankfurt am Main and moved to the spa town of Bad Homburg in 2000, where he worked with his wife Corina for 21 years. He has lived, practised and taught in Bad Soden am Taunus since 2025.

His outstanding contributions to Ayurveda include the
- Development of a matrix to differentiate between Indian and European, traditional and modern Ayurveda;
- Systematisation of an Ayurvedic case conceptualisation;
- Research and further development of Ayurvedic tongue diagnostics;
- Integration of mindfulness-based behavioural therapies for the practical applicability of Ayurvedic spiritual healing and psychosomatics;
- Strengthening the ideology-free spiritual dimension of Ayurveda without exaggerated mysticism, restrictive beliefs and dependence on gurus.
An extract from his vita
Born and raised in Frankfurt am Main, his personal development was shaped early on by his studies in classical violin with Prof Alois Kottmann, Competitive sport and worldwide Travelling abroad in oriental cultures.
Questions about the origin and meaningfulness of our existence and the importance of health for a fulfilled life led him to intensively analyse philosophies of life and health systems as well as the Study of Buddhism.
After leaving school, he did his civilian service at the psychological care for the elderly, started a degree course in University Medicine and completed a three-year full-time training programme to become a Alternative practitioner.
When I began my studies of Ayurveda medicine in India in 1994, I did not realise how important this teaching would be for my personal life. Today, 31 years later, I can say from the bottom of my heart and with deep gratitude: AYURVEDA has significantly shaped my life.
Ayurveda studies in India
Ralph learnt to appreciate Ayurveda in the country of origin, India, in 1994 and had the extraordinary good fortune to be taught by the most renowned doctors and scholars such as N.C. Sharma, P.V. Sharma, R.H. Singh, P.V. Tewari, K.C. Chunekar, J.P. Narayan, R. Paramesh, D. Sharma and S.N. Gupta in the following seven years at university and in a personal teacher-student relationship.
During numerous study trips, he was one of the few Europeans to develop a profound understanding of Ayurveda and was honoured for his achievements in 2000 by the „Indian Council for Ayurveda Promotion” as an Ayurveda Bhishak (Ayurveda doctor).
Study of psychology
In addition to his medical training, Ralph studied psychology for 10 semesters (FU Hagen) from 2008-2013 to ensure the continuous development of his holistic, scientifically based and health-psychological work.
In 2015, he got to know and love mindfulness-based behavioural therapy ACT = Acceptance & Commitment Therapy in America. Numerous training and further education programmes with the crème de la crème of the scene (Russ Harris, Kevin Polk, Kelly G. Wilson, Steven C. Hayes, Dennis Tirch, Robyn D. Walser and others) followed. Ralph is constantly training in psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy.
